Some Desert Pictures

Feathers and I in the Mojave desert. It's full of wind turbines. I've never walked or camped in such an unbelievably violent wind. As someone wrote on one of the logs on this part of the trail, "5 to 10 whales could be blown out of the area with some of these gusts."

This was displayed at one of the water caches a number of miles before Tehachapi. Many of these water caches are stocked by scouts looking to get their Eagle Scout. These caches are absolutely wonderful and really necessary out there with the lack of water. This particular cache not only had water, but it had a covered bin of oranges and chips. What a treat!!!! There was also a little covered library with books and games. With a few campsites around the cache, that could have been fun to camp there and read or play games .....if you had the energy after the hike.

Find the rattlesnake that I stepped over and past without even knowing. Feathers came by and didn't see it until she was almost standing on it. She got a picture a bit down the trail of the scene. You really have to pay attention out here.

Hiking on top of the LA aquaduct

It's time to wash the socks when they can stand up on their own. After 7 days through the desert it was time for a shower and laundry

Our camp in the Mojave desert

Feathers signing in to one of the many log books in the trail. Zoom in to see who were hiking around. Everybody uses these to see whose in front of them and when they went through.

We've run into a few horses in the trail. This is Feathers and Wild Niles by the horses

These wind turbines are huge! There are hundreds of them around here. I never realized how much noise they make......almost sounds like an airplane. We spent several days walking around these things.

We got a ride by a trail angel with a dog. It's so sunny out here that the dogs even wear hats!!

What we do everyday for 10 hours or so
