The Final Leg of the Journey This Season : Mount Shasta

Hello everybody!

After several days of being in the Backcountry without any service, I've reached a point just a few miles out from Dunsmuir with service. I'm camped up on a ridge tonight with a spectacular view of Mount Shasta. Tomorrow I'll hike out and end this journey for the season. It has been spectacular!

Today I passed the 800 mile mark for the season on the PCT. The last 82 miles I've been traveling with Mt. Shasta in my view. It's gotten larger and larger as I've gotten closer and closer. It's a phenomenal mountain that sticks out among all the other mountains!

Tonight I plan on watching the sunset and tomorrow the sunrise over Mount Shasta.

On a long hot stretch of trail without water for many miles, this was a beautiful site! Water is precious out here. Putting a leaf there helps concentrate the flow and get it into your containers.

Came across some trail magic on the trail yesterday. In the middle of nowhere there was 2 metal boxes that had written on the outside, "For PCT hikers only.". Mmmmmm! Unexpected trail magic in the middle of nowhere is spectacular!

Met a couple from Wisconsin who are touring around with their mules and riding the trails around the country. I learned a lot about miles! Now I have mule friends in Wisconsin!

Nancy and Josh. Trail angels that gave me a lift into town. There's a listing on Facebook for trail angels in certain areas. I got a hold of them the day before. When they showed up to give me a ride, they pointed to a bag in the back seat and said they also made me a lunch! No charge. Super nice people! I wish everyone could experience trail angels!

The lunch Josh and Nancy made for me: turkey sandwich with the fixings, fresh watermelon, cookies, water, and a pop. So very nice of them!!!
