A Quick Update
Greetings everyone from my tent at 4:45 in the morning. I have some service here so I thought I'd give a quick update before heading out .
We're camped at mile 525 in the middle of the Mojave desert surrounded by Joshua trees. This night has been.........hmmm.......what's the best word.......violent. The winds have been gusting to probably 40 or 45 mph through much of the night. Hence, I've been trying to help support my tent through the night so it doesn't turn into battered little pieces. What we really should have done is just packed up and walked through the night. But, we are a bit tired from the miles we have been putting on during the day.
The last couple days the trail has been beautiful. We've been overlooking the vast Mojave desert for several days at different angles up in the mountains. Now here we are looking back at the mountains we scaled and looking towards the mountains were soon to scale.
Yesterday we walked much of the day in flat ground through the actual desert part.....that's a rare thing on the PCT. We actually walked on top of the LA aquaduct for many miles. One day when I figure out how to send pictures on this website again, I'll show you. It was actually pretty cool.
We are about 40 miles outside of Tehachapi,CA. We'll be there in about 2 1/2 days if all goes well. I've been dealing with a sore swollen right lower shin the past few days. It's definitely making the miles a bit more painful lately. In a couple days we'll take a few days off. We're in great need of a shower and laundry and some rest.
Hope all is well with everyone! I'll update you if there's any service from here to Tehachapi or talk to you again in Tehachapi in a few days
Time to get this tent down out of the wind and get in the trail.
Talk to you down the trail........
