Hey everyone! First off, thanks so much for checking out my site. I really appreciate you being here!
A few months ago, I decided to start a blog for an upcoming adventure—something I’ve never done before. And since I’m about to take on another thing I’ve never done before, it felt right to go all in and try something new across the board.
Starting in March of 2026, I plan to thru-hike the Pacific Crest Trail. It’s roughly a 2,650-mile trek from the Mexico–U.S. border to the Canada–U.S. border. For me, it all begins at Campo, California, where the trail starts in the Southern California desert. From there, it climbs into the San Jacinto and San Bernardino Mountains, moves through the Mojave, and continues north into the eastern Sierra.
After about 700 miles walking through Southern California, I’ll reach the High Sierra. This is where the trail cuts through Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and Yosemite National Park. Think high mountain passes, high peaks, alpine lakes, and massive old-growth sequoias.
From there, the trail heads into Northern California, traveling through forests, volcanic terrain, and lava fields near Lassen Volcanic National Park. I’m especially looking forward to the views of Mount Shasta.
Oregon brings faster miles through evergreen forests and volcanic landscapes, passing places like Crater Lake National Park. There are waterfalls, lava flows, and long stretches of smooth, relatively flat trail.
Washington turns things rugged again, cutting through the North Cascades. This section includes steep climbs, glaciers, deep valleys, and high peaks, all leading to the final monument at the Canadian border.
The entire journey should take me about five and a half to six months. Along the way, I plan to share the experience here through writing, photos, and videos. I’ll post whenever I make it into town and have internet. This blog is interactive too, so feel free to leave comments—I’d really love to keep the connection to everyone back home.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing posts about the preparation that goes into a hike like this and why I’m taking on this trail in the first place. I hope you’ll follow along.
I’m so excited to follow along with your adventure! And will hopefully be able to join you for a bit too!
Way to go Kelly!! Can’t wait to read the adventures!!
